My Story
My transition from the office world to my current creative path has been gradual, meaningful, and deeply personal. Art has always been a quiet constant in my life — something that helped me slow down, reconnect with myself, and feel a sense of accomplishment beyond professional goals. As the years passed, gratitude also became a grounding force for me. I found myself increasingly appreciative of my life, my family, and the opportunities I’d had. This is one of the reasons Zentangle resonated so strongly with me: the method begins and ends with gratitude, mirroring the way I try to move through life.
I explored different art forms — urban sketching, Batik silk painting, Indian tribal art, watercolours, acrylics, alcohol inks, origami, and quilling. But my true turning point came in 2016. Life had become busy with work and motherhood, and my creative practice had quietly slipped away. Then one day, I saw an advertisement for a Zentangle workshop at a local art store. Its simplicity — a pen, a small piece of paper, and an invitation to be present — pulled me in immediately. I enrolled, and from that moment, something shifted.
Zentangle helped me rebuild my confidence in drawing, reduce stress, and regain focus. It became more than a hobby; it became a form of mental wellbeing and self care. Over the years, I created countless Zentangle inspired artworks, each one reminding me that creativity didn’t need to be complicated or time consuming to be meaningful.
From my very first workshop, I knew I wanted to become a Certified Zentangle Teacher. For a long time, the certification was only available in person in the USA. But when COVID 19 changed the world, the course was finally offered online. I completed my certification in November 2024, marking a significant milestone in my journey.
Today, I’m stepping beyond the traditional office world and embracing a path that blends creativity, teaching, mindfulness, and community. Zentangle has not only reconnected me with my artistic self, it has opened a new chapter where I can share that joy and empowerment with others through my art classes.
